Chris is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and a life-trained chef, having worked for years in local food establishments and church kitchens, and with various groups in the Grass Valley area. Her food experience has run the gamut of “quality kitchen time” with at-risk youth, kitchen/culinary mentoring with local high school students, local coffee shops and restaurants, very large catering events as well as smaller, intimate ones.
Chris’ passion is feeding people delicious, comfort-style meals with an eye to utilizing fresh, wholesome ingredients. Her background in healthcare and a love of cooking, led her on a journey to Nutritional Therapy where she found help with her own food and nutrition struggles. Her take-a-way from this path was, "everyone is an individual and may have different nutritional needs: we don't all fit into one box", and... "the art and study of nutrition is one of discovery: as we get better and better on the science of nutrition, there will always be something new to learn and apply which should give hope for our challenges".
Chris enjoys working with individuals and families wanting to work towards eating nutrient dense foods that encourage health and well-being.
When not cooking, she enjoys time with family, music, camping, trail running, swimming, cycling, and bringing old furniture to new life.
"Food is our common ground, a universal experience."-James Beard
